5 Simple Ways to be More Mindful In Motherhood
5 Simple Ways to be More Mindful In Motherhood
When it comes to being fully present and mindful in my day, small rituals throughout the day always help me to become more patient, calm and in the moment.
Today I wanted to share my favorite quick practices (all five take under five minutes) that can add more mindfulness to your day, recharge your batteries, and bring you back to the moment right in front of you (that I'm guessing is pretty amazing).
1. Move your body for five minutes. By taking a walk around the block or doing a quick 5-minute yoga routine, you start to break up stagnant energy and connect to the sensations in your body. Slow down and notice areas of tightness, the pace of your breath and how your body is feeling as you move.
2. Meditate to the mantra Om Shanti (Peace). One round (108 repetitions) of Om Shanti only takes about three minutes but will connect you to your breath and silence the chatter in your head that distracts you from the present moment. You can find your perfect mala match for your practice here
3. Really watch your kids play. Motherhood is the most amazing experience, and it’s easy to forget to stop and just watch the beauty of your children exploring their world. Every day try to spend at least five minutes just watching the amazing little humans you are raising and allow yourself soak in all that incredible wonder.
4. Elevate your shower. Every day have your shower by candlelight with soothing music that you adore. It’s such a simple thing, but it turns something you have to do into a relaxing and renewing experience you look forward to.
5.Take time to drink your coffee slowly. Feel the warm mug in your hands, notice the pattern of the steam escaping, and pay attention to all the different flavour notes as you sip. Really focus on being in the moment, and enjoying the simple act of sitting and drinking, allowing yourself to be comforted by all your senses.
There is so much to be enjoyed every day when we take the time to slow down and appreciate it. I hope these little actions add a little something extra to your day!
Let's be sure to see all the beauty right in front of us.
